Hi, I'm Dr. Ashley Owens, the Medical Director and an Emergency Veterinarian at Animal Emergency Care of Braselton, providing compassionate, high-quality emergency care for pets and their families in Hoschton, GA, and the surrounding communities. Supporting pets during critical moments and helping families navigate unexpected medical situations is what makes emergency medicine so rewarding.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of veterinary medicine, life is centered around family, animals, and time to recharge. Spending time with family and pets, traveling, hiking, and tie-dyeing clothing are all favorite pastimes. Our home is a busy and joyful one, currently filled with six dogs, two cats, five birds, and a fish.
Education
My veterinary journey began at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I studied Biology from 1990 to 1992. Continuing at Lynchburg College from 1993 to 1994, my focus turned to Biology and Pre-Veterinary Medicine. My Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree followed at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1998.

Holding a Georgia Board of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Medical License since 2000, my professional focus has centered on emergency and critical care. Nearly three decades of experience have shaped a deep commitment to compassionate, timely treatment for pets facing critical situations.
Memberships
Professional memberships include the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society and the American Veterinary Medical Association, both held since 1998, as well as the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. These organizations help support continued learning and advancements in veterinary medicine.
Work History
Since July 2017, my role at Animal Emergency Care of Braselton has been Medical Director and Emergency Veterinarian at this after-hours emergency clinic. This position involves leading a skilled team of veterinary professionals, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.
Prior to that, fifteen years were spent as an Emergency Veterinarian at the Animal Emergency Center of North Fulton from 2002 to 2017, with earlier roles at Cobb Veterinary Emergency Clinic from 2001 to 2002 and Kanawha Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital from 1998 to 2001. Across these positions, my work has included diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical emergencies, performing surgical interventions, and managing complex cases under pressure—all while delivering compassionate care, clear communication with families, and strong relationships with referring veterinarians to ensure continuity of care.
