Hi, I'm Dr. Angela Murphy, an Emergency Veterinarian at Animal Emergency Care of Braselton, providing compassionate, high-quality emergency veterinary care for pets and their families in Hoschton, GA, and the surrounding communities. Supporting pets during critical moments and helping families navigate unexpected medical situations is what makes emergency medicine so rewarding.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of veterinary medicine, life is centered around family, animals, and a little time to recharge. I am the CEO of a competitive swim household and the proud mom of two boys, ages 13 and 11. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and the occasional nap.
Our family also includes a full house of beloved pets: two Dobermans, Vader and Jeanie; Eddie, our spirited geriatric Terrier; Una, our Leopard Gecko; Steve, our Bearded Dragon; and our guinea pigs, Cotton and Rubberband.
Education
My veterinary journey began at the University of Georgia, where I studied Animal and Dairy Science from 1994 to 1997. After being accepted into veterinary school a year early, I went on to earn my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2001.
Professional Background
As a Fear Free Certified veterinarian, I am committed to providing compassionate emergency care while helping reduce stress and anxiety for pets whenever possible. My professional experience includes emergency medicine, specialty care, general practice, and urgent care.
I have also contributed to the veterinary profession through publication, including a 2008 article in DVM360 on considering the ACTH stimulation test in suspected canine hyperadrenocorticism. My work has also been recognized by IDEXX Clinical Pathology.
Memberships
Professional memberships include the Feline Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. These organizations help support continued learning and advancements in veterinary medicine.
Work History
My career in veterinary medicine has included working in emergency and specialty hospitals since 2003.
After spending several years in general practice, I returned to my first love—emergency medicine. At Animal Emergency Care of Braselton, I am proud to provide experienced emergency veterinary care for pets and families when they need it most.
